What should be checked before bathroom walls close?

Short answer: confirm the selected fixtures and trim, rough-in positions, supports, access, connections, testing, documentation and responsibility for the remaining trades.

Pre-close plumbing checklist

  1. Products: match model numbers, valve bodies, trims, drains and fixture instructions.
  2. Locations: verify centre lines, heights, depths and the finished wall or floor build-up.
  3. Support and access: confirm blocking, service access and space for future connections.
  4. Connections: review visible water, drain and vent work within the accepted scope.
  5. Testing: complete the agreed testing before finishes hide the work.
  6. Evidence: take wide and close-up photos of concealed plumbing for the project record.
  7. Handoff: state what is ready for inspection or the next trade and what remains excluded.

Access-side documentation helps preserve a record of concealed work.
Do not close the wall because the calendar says so.
