How do I check a plumber in Ontario?

Short answer: search the person in the Skilled Trades Ontario Public Register and confirm the name, trade, status and current expiry shown there.

Step-by-step

  1. Open the official Skilled Trades Ontario Public Register.
  2. Search by the person’s name or STO ID.
  3. Check that the result identifies the correct trade.
  4. Read the current status and expiry shown by the register.
  5. Ask who will actually perform or supervise the work; a company name alone does not identify that person.

Raccoon Plumbing publishes Dafen Chen’s STO ID, 23031501, so a customer can independently confirm the public result.

What the register does not replace
